Tree, Rock and Bird Stories
Reinventing images from nature
and reimagining the texture of the natural world
in paint and collage.
Materials include handmade paper, plant fiber
and collaged canvas.
The layered canvas pieces, impasto surfaces,
paper castings and bark and fiber attachments
create low relief sculptural paintings.
The resulting images and assemblages
range from the recognizable to the extreme
abstract with atmospheric texture giving
each piece a distinct character.

Lynda Yuroff Artist Bio
Growing up in central Illinois in the 1950’s and 60’s provided little in the way of cultural fine art exposure. My first strong visual art memory was from Disney’s Snow White movie. The dark part with the trees was my favorite segment. I was 18 when I first visited an art museum.
Graduating with a degree in art from Illinois State University, I began work as a graphic artist doing layout, design and illustration for various publications. In the 1980’s I began artist residencies with Sierra Arts and the Nevada Arts council. For the next 25 years I worked in schools throughout Washoe County and rural Nevada and taught painting and drawing at Truckee Meadows Community College.
My work has been shown throughout Nevada and the western states including one person exhibits in Reno and Las Vegas. Lilly Museum, Bank of America, John Deer Capital Corporation, Nevada Museum of Art and Nevada Arts Council have included my work in their collections as have many private collectors. Awards include a Sierra Arts Fellowship and a City 2000 Reno Arts Commission grant. In 2003 my work was included in a western states juried exhibit at Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art in Montana. In 2009 and 2003 I was selected by Nevada arts Council to produce original art for the Annual Governor’s Arts Awards.
